Celebration

Today is a day for jubilation, the day to celebrate the birth of ... nooo, not the United States, silly; that's tomorrow ... the birth of that sweet girl who foolishly married me way back in 1978.

She's given so much: our home (without you it's just a house, with you a castle), our laughter ("No, I love you more" ...), a few shared tears (the Grandpa who hitched the wagon for "Number One" did the same for the sons of that first grandchild), a butter-licking cat, a few good beatings (she beat me at Scrabble again just last night) ... and most precious of all, she's given three handsome sons.

But it's not what she's given -- it's who she is. She's my wife, my lover, my friend, my comforter, my helper ... my Joyce.

Thank you for marrying me, Joyceee.

And thanks for mopping the kitchen floor. I am glad you did not cut yourself when the blackberry jar of jam fell...maybe we need to just start keeping the coffeemate liquid on an easier shelf to reach...and buy jam in plastic jars.

Oh, I forgot -- Joyce also makes sure I never forget to confess how clumsy I am.

I am usually the clumbsy one. I trip over my own feet these days.

What shall we do today? We need more milk from Braum's.

... and blackberry jelly.

and do you want to tackle the sink faucet in the bathroom project? the handle cuts my hands and we don't want the grandbaby cutting her little fingers.

Bob said...

Yeah, you make this house a castle, but castles can be a lot of upkeep. Okay, we'll go get a new faucet and I'll crawl around on the floor installing it.

the seats behind the bathtub faucets need changing again---something to hold us over until after the wedding...and when we can afford to remodel that tub area.

it is too hot outside to do anything in the yard. but we have this vine that traveled up through the nandina into the oak tree.

and the windows need washed.

I am miss full-of-projects today, eh? I think my love language is quality time and acts of service

Mrs JP--
It hasn't all been a bed of roses -- Joyce makes me do plumbing. So see, the woman not only beats me, she's a slave-driver, too.
