Word Recognition

I don't post very many stories about our 20-month-old granddaughter. There are a couple of reasons for that. First, the preciously little girl lives nearly a thousand miles away, so we miss out on a lot of the cute things she does. And second, I'm never quite sure how much exposure our oldest son Andy and his dear wife want. But this story is just too cute not to share.

We were visiting with Andy on the phone the other day and he reported, "Abby's learned to say 'Uncle Tim' -- well, the 'Tim' part anyway." {Tim is Andy's brother-in-law.}

We replied, "Then you need to teach her 'Uncle James' and 'Uncle Ben'."

Andy came back, "We've tried to teach her 'Ben', but she recognizes the word and finishes it for us."

I was stumped, "What do you mean?"

"Whenever we say 'Ben', she says 'nanna'."

Silly me, "Oh of course -- good old 'Uncle Ben-nanna'!"

I was going to leave a great big "bah-ha-ha!"...
but every time I typed "bah", it came out "bah-na-na!"

(Awesome story! Awesome!)
